This is a wonderful book! ... The charming characters are testing the waters and defying the rules in an era where society expects single women to act a certain way. Gist has done a tremendous job.

How Does a Modern Woman Find Her Way in 1893 New York City?

BY BREAKING EVERY RULE.

The heir to Tiffany's jewelry empire is left without a staff when glassworkers go on strike just months before the opening of the much-anticipated 1893 Chicago World's Fair and the hyped mosaic "Tiffany Chapel." Desperate and without another option, Tiffany turns to a group of female art students to finish the job.

Flossie Jayne answers the call, moving into a New York City boardinghouse with high hopes of making a name for herself as an artist and defying those who say that the work can't be completed in time--least of all by a set of young, inexperienced women. As Flossie flouts polite society's restrictions on females, her ambitions become threatened from an unexpected quarter: her own heart.

Who will claim victory? her dreams or the captivating boarder next door?

I laughed, I cheered, I gasped in horror, I gasped in surprised, I speculated, I worried, I hoped. I loved. At one point ... I was certain everything was going to hell in a hand basket and that it wasn’t a heart-warming tale after all, but one meant to inflict pain...on me. All this, because I was so emotionally invested in the characters and they were having some serious conflicts. Needless to say, I was completely emotionally involved in the story. A test of a truly amazing author—when they can elicit that kind of emotion from their readers!

[Tiffany Girl is] an absolutely wonderful book ... It is full of so much rich history, colorful, intriguing characters, and windows into the world of the ‘New Woman’. Solid Five Stars.

Breathtakingly beautiful. It’s not often that a novel leaves me stunned. Where I find myself closing the book and looking around the room with tears in my eyes wondering what in the world I’m going to do with myself next because I’ve just read something so overwhelmingly moving I’m simply stunned trying to process all of the emotions it’s ripped out of me.

Gist deftly threads sweet charm, heartwarming romance, and gentle humor through the plot of her latest engaging historical, while the fascinating details she provides about the Tiffany studios and the struggle for women artists to receive equal opportunities will also appeal to fans.

I loved this and chewed through it like someone was going to take it away from me, and I’m totally going to check out more of Gist’s work.
Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, The Red-Headed Girl
Gist aptly describes the work of artist Louis Tiffany as both vibrant and resplendent ... these words easily apply to Gist’s work, as well ... The historical details are absorbing, never intrusive and always eye-opening ... The characterization is rich and authentic ... The narrative is a treat, the tempo impeccable.

While we can’t travel through time to visit the 1893 World’s Fair, we can do the next best thing and experience it through the wonderful pages of Tiffany Girl as well as the two previous books in this series, It Happened at the Fair and Fair Play (stand-alone books). I highly recommend them all.
