What will a typical day at Deeanne’s retreat look like?
Here is a mock up of what a typical day might look like:
10:00 - 12:30 Workshop
12:30 - Lunch
1:30 - 3:30 Workshop
(2022 only: Deeanne will conduct her one-on-one sessions with individual attendees both before the 10am workshop and after the final workshop of each day.)
What if I’ve never written a word in my life?
You should totally attend! Of those who enrolled last year, 50% had never, ever written before and 25% had dabbled with writing but never completed a manuscript—so you’d be in great company.
Deeanne’s very first workshop will be “8 Things I Wish I’d Known Before I Started Writing.” She will also be giving workshops on how to plot a book, how to keep the pace moving, how to create a believable characters, etc.
So don’t be intimidated if you’re brand new. And if you are experienced, the retreat will be beneficial for you, too. It will show you ways to improve your technique and might even reveal some techniques you didn’t know about. With the unusual, unparalleled access to Deeanne for the entire week, you’ll also be able to pick her brain about areas you are struggling with.
Can I bring my spouse and/or my pet with me?
In order to preserve the integrity of the retreat community, guests and/or spouses will not be allowed to accompany attendees.
As much as we love animals, your pets will also have to stay home this time.
Will there be time for off-site excursions?
2022 only: The weekdays will be filled. Monday* - Wednesday will end by 3:30pm, though, so those evenings will be all yours. The evenings you’ll need to reserve are Sunday evening when Deeanne will hold an orientation, and Thursday evening when Deeanne will host a special dinner.

*Monday afternoon Deeanne will be showing an optional movie in her home theater for those who wish to stay for popcorn and fun.
How can I increase my chances of being selected?
2022 only: The best things you can do to increase your chances are:
1) Submit your application quickly;
2) Complete all follow-up paperwork quickly and thoroughly.
Once all spots are filled, the review process will cease, so the sooner you apply, the better your chances.
OTHER DETERMINING FACTORS:
- 2022 only: You must be a newsletter subscriber. (You can subscribe HERE if you haven’t already.)
- 2022 only: Those who follow Deeanne on Bookbub, Goodreads, Instagram, and Facebook will be given favor.
- 2022 only: Filling out the application in its entirety and signing all required documents will increase your chances since the review process will not begin on anyone until their application and subsequent paperwork is fully completed.
- 2022 only: Your spot—once it is offered—will not be secured until your payment is processed. So be sure to complete your payment within 48 hours of being accepted. This is super important because after 48 hours your entry will go back to the bottom of the queue and your invitation will be offered to the next person in line.
